What does a freight exchange do
A freight exchange is a website, real time service where vehicle operators add vehicles to the system that are available to transship a load and load providers add loads, freight, cargo to the system that are looking for a vehicle to move the goods.
These systems provide a platform that allows carriers to communicate freight traffic information to other operators such as transporters, forwarders and logistics companies. They allow forwarders to advertise their freight either privately or publicly to a large number of freight operators that are looking for loads. They also allow freight operators to offer vehicle space. Freight Exchange systems are normally subscription-based some have a small charge for advertising (posting) and searching (consulting), freight-x does not charge for posting or consulting.
Example
If you are a Haulage Contractor base in Birmingham England with Curtain side trailer delivering to Barcelona in Spain next week, you would add this Curtain Side trailer as available in Barcelona next week, load providers may search the freight exchange for such vehicle and contact you. Also the Haulage contractor should search the freight exchange to see if any loads are available in Barcelona next week, freight-x searches for you if you are the load provider or the vehicle provider our system will send both an email as soon as the match is made, this match is made within seconds of the available vehicle and truck loads being placed on the system.
