European Freight Exchange

From what I can remember Minitel was the first freight exchange it was before anyone had a pc or the internet it came with its own screen and dial in connection this would be in the late 80s, it was a black and white screen and like DOS based and didn't have many loads on at all, (just like many freight exchanges today).
The next was worldfreight.com? not so much a freight exchange but it was the internet (and free) the ideas were there, loads were added, probably by the owner typing them in, in his spare time. Sure it was some guy in Bournemouth UK
Freight Exchanges have been available on the internet since the early 1990's in one form or another. One of the first Freight Exchanges that became available was called FreeCargo a system that worked really well and is free of charge to use. FreeCargo is still available for transporter only. Freight2mail ltd own freecargo.co.uk from the early 90's and for 10 years we promoted and represented FreeCargo to the UK.
These days Freight Exchanges are common and many systems exist in most countries around the word. Europe probably has 100 different ones offering a Freight Exchange service along with other freight related services. Some European countries alone have 20 systems all competing for the same business, many Haulage, Courier & Freight companies join many of them to try and find the right one for them.
At Freight-X we believe that the way forward in today's Freight Exchange market place is to cooperate with other exchanges and by franchising the Freight-X system in Europe.
